Four men arrested for looting during August's riots have been jailed for a total of 15 years for stealing more than £10,000 worth of jewellery.

Azariah Jones, 35, from Wandsworth, Nourdine Erreg, 38, from Mitcham, Lincoln Ebanks, 38, from Lambeth, and Chad Smith, 36, from Lambeth, were convicted of burglary.

Just after midnight on August 9, police were called to Theo Fennell's Jewellers in Fulham Road after 15-20 youths, armed with bricks and poles, started smashing windows and stealing jewellery from the shop.

Fifteen minutes later police saw a silver coloured Kia 4x4 travelling at speed, without its headlights on, along a quiet residential street off the Fulham Road.

Following a search of the car officers discovered a silver cigarette box worth £9,950, a silver spoon valued at £550 and a silver cup worth £440 that had been stolen from Theo Fennell's during the disorder.

On Friday, January 13, all four defendants appeared at the Inner London Crown Court where they were found guilty of burglary.

Erreg was handed a three-year jail term while Smith, Jones and Ebanks were each sentenced to four years imprisonment.
