Poor performance of out of hours emergency GP care will be discussed by councillors tomorrow night.

In December 2010, provider Patient Care 24 failed to meet eight out of 13 targets, including abandoning 10 percent of calls from people trying to get hold of a GP.

A report to Kingston’s health and overview scrutiny committee shows performance has improved since new company Harmoni, was brought in during July 2011.

However five were still short of the 100 percent target in October 2011.

Draft proposals which could see a maternity unit and an accident and emergency unit shut somewhere in south-west London will also be up for debate.

The idea is one of several to emerge from the Better Services Better Value review by clinicians challenged with finding savings of £64m while improving healthcare.

The committee has the power to make recommendations or oppose the proposals.

The meeting will take place at 7.30pm on January 19 at Kingston Guildhall.
