The number of children being admitted to St Peter’s Hospital for drug and alcohol misuse has fallen year on year.
Figures obtained under the Freedom of Information Act showed 17 children under the age of 14 were treated for alcohol-related illnesses in the three years from October 2008 to 2011.
Staff treated 11 children from 2008 to 2009 9, five from 2009-10 and two from 2010-11.
The youngest was a seven-year-old in 2009.
In the past three years, only one child, a 12-year-old, has been treated for illegal substance misuse.
They were treated for the use of cannabinoid, the active ingredient in the class B drug cannabis.
