Cecil Hepworth Playhouse celebrated its reopening after a £350,000 renovation.
The Walton venue was built in the 1920s by Hepworth, a famous film director, producer and screen writer who is considered as a founder of the British Film industry.
Much of the venue’s 1920s elegance has been retained, while an array of modernisations have taken it in to the 21st century.
Elmbridge Council's chief executive Robert Moran said: “This has been a very exciting project for everyone involved. At the council, we are proud to be investing in this historically important arts venue for the borough.
“We hope that it can build on its unique heritage to keep the arts alive in the community.”
Councillor Jan Fuller said: “The result is simply stunning and I am sure that the audiences will be very impressed by this fantastic arts venue’s new look and facilities.”
