Rush-hour motorists travelling through Putney town centre tomorrow are being advised to allow extra time for their journeys because of emergency roadworks being carried out by the power companies.
The repairs will begin tonight (Monday) at 9pm and are scheduled to last 24 hours. These will involve repairs to underground power cables situated near the junction of the high street and Lacy Road.
Because the power company contractors need to excavate part of the high Street, the usable road width will be narrowed, necessitating the use of a set of three-way temporary traffic signals at this junction.
During peak hours these signals will be manually controlled by the contractor to take account of traffic flows and to ensure congestion is kept to a minimum.
The works are scheduled to be completed by 9pm tomorrow night (Tuesday).
Bus passengers who use routes that travel along the High Street are also being advised to allow extra time for their journeys tomorrow.
