Health services will receive no additional funding for services during the London Olympics.

Each local NHS board is required to be “Olympic Ready” by April ahead of the Games which start on July 27.

NHS London has provided £180,000 for planning but will receive no additional resources during the Games for any increase in services.

This is despite visitors to the capital expected to increase by 510,000 during the Games and local NHS services likely to see extra demand.

Leave for NHs staff is to be reviewed during the two month period up until the end of the Paralympics, with contingency plans made for staff unable to get into work following travel disruption.

Each board has also had to make plans for a major incident such as a terrorist attack, heatwave or flooding.

Several Olympic events will be taking place across south west London, including the Olympic torch relay, the road cycle race and time trials, and the tennis events at Wimbledon.
