Met Police winger Jack MacLeod is hoping his wandering days are over after switching to his third club of the campaign.

The 23-year-old signed for boss Jimmy Cooper's Blues last week as a replacement for Faversham Town-bound Nicky Humphrey and made his debut at Wealdstone on Tuesday.

MacLeod, who still wants a return to the pro ranks, quit Ryman Premier League strugglers Leatherhead before Christmas having fallen out of favour with Fetcham Grove chief Richard Brady.

The move comes seven months after the former Hereford United player had been unveiled as one of boss Alan Dowson's five summer signings at Kingstonian.

But MacLeod, who had taken Christmas off to reassess his footballing future, is ready to settle down at Imber Court.

"If there is one thing I've learnt it is that there is not much loyalty in football - you have got to look after yourself," he said.

"I never really got a chance at Ks and it was clear - after I wasn't getting much game time - that the manager wasn't going to give me time.

"I went back to Leatherhead and was getting some games, but here was a change of manager and they tend to bring in their own men.

"I've got nothing against Richard. There is not a lot you can do if a manager doesn't like you.

"I was disappointed to leave because some of my closest mates are there and when Jimmy Cooper got in touch I jumped at the chance.

"He obviously thinks I can do a job and I'm hoping I can see this through to the play-offs."

Cooper's Met Police remain in the hunt for a top five finish, despite being without a win in three league matches - before Tuesday trip to Wealdstone - and sitting sixth in the table.

And MacLeod believes they can back up last season's Ryman Division One South title winning heroics with a crack at a second promotion in successive seasons.

"The team hasn't changed much from last season and they were a quality side then," he added.

"There is a good vibe about the place and I've been really impressed with training so far.

"Providing the team can take its chances there is no reason why we can't get back into the play-off places.

"We've got a couple of games in hand so it should be a good second half of the season, and hopefully I can play a part in that.
