Emergency boiler repairs, taxi vouchers for vulnerable people to get to GP appointments, free loft insulation, and a meals-on-wheel service in Mole Valley and Reigate and Banstead will all be available thanks to a £200,000 grant.
Nearly 30 organisations teamed up with Surrey County Council to win the bid for funding to keep people warm in winter from the Department of Health.
The schemes will be managed by Action Surrey, an organisation which offers free advice to businesses, schools and residents on cutting energy and water use.
Michael Gosling, SCC’s cabinet member for adult social care and health, said: “It is a great opportunity for the county council to work with voluntary and community organisations to ensure that support gets right to the heart of communities.”
Ben Wood, project manager of Action Surrey, added: “Action Surrey is delighted to be involved in the co-ordination of this award and to ensure that the most vulnerable in the county are assisted during the winter months.”
