A flat fire in Crystal Palace which was so hot it caused the windows to break left three people needing hospital treatment yesterday (January 15).

Emergency services were called to the scene in Crystal Palace Park Road at about 11am and found three people suffering from smoke inhalation.

The two adults, believed to be a woman in her 50s and a person in their late teens, and a child, reportedly aged six or seven, were all taken to Kings College Hospital, Denmark Hill.

Firefighters managed to stop the flames spreading from the living room of the ground floor flat and had the blaze under control in about 20 minutes.

The crews, from Beckenham and West Norwood, were at the scene for around four hours.

It is not yet known what caused the blaze.
