A police officer caught the same violent offender twice in a day.
PC Alex Law first found the man – wanted by prison authorities for making threats to kill with a samurai sword – hiding in a loft.
PC Law was injured trying to apprehend him jumping from the loft.
The offender was taken to hospital under police guard after claiming he had swallowed a large quantity of class A drugs.
PC Law also went to receive treatment for his injured elbow.
While at hospital the suspect struggled free from officers and ran into the surrounding streets.
Despite the pain from his injury, PC Law gave chase on foot and detained the man, who admitted he had planned his escape and had not taken any drugs. The man was later taken back to prison.
PC Alex Law was commended for his “courage, dedication and commitment leading to the detention of a violent suspect”.
