The advice follows previous warnings from the Nigerian embassy to avoid being duped by similar letters sent by bogus Nigerian government officials trying to get hold of company documents and bank account details.
Recipients of the latest letter are being invited to visit South Africa to set up a bank account and help transfer the funds which allegedly belong to Sierra Leone officials.
The faxed letter offers 20 per cent of the amount transferred to anyone willing to offer assistance.
