Three dogs were dumped outside an animal hospital last night with a note saying their owners could no longer care for them because they were homeless.
They were found by RSPCA staff tied to railings outside the Putney Animal Hospital, in Clarendon Drive.
The female lurchers known as Beauty, a three-year-old, Taura, a one-year-old and Puppy, six-months-old were all found together.
It is a criminal offence to dump animals in conditions that are likely to cause them suffering.
Anyone found responsible could face a six month prison sentence, or a fine of up to £20,000.
The female dogs will be cared for at the animal hospital until a place can be found for them at an RSPCA animal rehoming centre.
Clinical manager Sian Anderson said: "These dogs were left outside in cold wet conditions, hoping someone will find them.
"They are lovely dogs and it is such a shame that their owners have been irresponsible enough to simply dump them here."
Anyone who knows who the dogs belonged to can contact the RSPCA on 03001234999.
