Police are appealing for witnesses after a would-be robber had his loot stolen back from him by vigilantes.
The incident happened at about 6.45pm on Thursday, December 8, in Weir Road, between Clapham South and Streatham Hill.
A woman was standing opposite St Stephen’s Church when a hooded thug approached her and grabbed her handbag. He wrestled the bag off her and ran off with it towards Atkins Road but was pursued by several people, including one person on a bike, and forced to surrender it.
Lambeth police would like to speak to anyone who came to the victim’s aid, or who may have information about the man who robbed her.
Anyone with information should call Detective Sergeant Gordon Barclay on 020 8649 2477, email Gordon.Barclay@met.police.uk or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
