Free Xmas stay for lonely pensioners
A winter campaign will offer free meals and overnight stays to older people over the Christmas period.
The campaign is run by national charity Abbeyfield and aims to improve the quality of life for older people and provide companionship.
Abbeyfield’s house in Wallington will welcome older people to enjoy a Christmas meal and an overnight stay with others from December 24 to January 4.
Over three quarters of a million older people are chronically lonely and while this is a daily issue, being alone or lonely is particularly sad around Christmas time.
