A volunteer who dedicated a decade to improving Beddington Park is stepping down from her role.

On Monday, December 12, Dee Hyatt, chaired her last meeting as chairwoman of the Friends of Beddington and Grange Parks.

She is stepping down at the New Year, when she is moving to Essex to be with her family.

Pauline Thompson, from the Friends, said: "Dee certainly leaves a great legacy that so many Sutton people enjoy- the refurbished tennis courts, the barbecues, the May Fair in collaboration with the Round Table, and the work being done on the boundary wall to name just some of the achievements she has made over the years."

Bill Wyatt, assistant parks manager at Sutton Council, said: "Dee has represented the park and its users and given the Friends group a strong voice locally.

She has supported the parks service in a number of improvements to the park, many of which could not have been achieved without the considerable input of the Friends group, as well as challenging us to do more.
