Rockstock, a gig for local bands will celebrate its grand finale with a Christmas special.

The gigs have been taking place for nine years and have showcased well over 1000 bands.

The grand final will take place at Wallington Halls, Stafford Road, Wallington, on Friday, December 23.

Gary Milsom, AGE, the organiser of Rockstock, said: “It has been a privilege to showcase some of the areas abundance of talent and we have made a great many friends over the years.

We have had extraordinary support from the Sutton Theatres group, the Safer Neighboughood police teams and the Sutton Guardian newspaper.

“However, the time has come to bring the event to a close. We have run our concerts without funding or sponsorship of any kind and today's rising costs have made the events difficult to maintain.

“If there was a sponsor out there willing to underwrite the events we would be delighted to continue but as it stands we intend to bring the event to a fantastic end with an amazing Christmas gig.

“It will be sad to say goodbye to all the wonderful young musicians and fans alike, not to mention our extraordinary young crew who started as keen volunteers but are now experts in lighting, sound, stage management and all things technical.

“The line-up for the show includes Pluto, Make Out Tactics, the Moment Arises, First Hurdle, Disko Island and Blaze Tracy. All these bands are massive local favourites and the show will be one huge party.”

Ticket prices are £7.00 and doors open at 7.00. Contact RockStock on 07832 102510 for advance tickets, or email rockstock@live.co.uk.
