Two brothers who looted a fast food restaurant as rioting spread across south London have been put behind bars.

Organic chef Fitzroy Thomas, 43, and his 47-year-old brother Ronald, both from Streatham, smashed their way into Nando’s on Clapham High Street during the early hours of August 8.

The pair threw objects around the restaurant before running off with a bottle of wine, Inner London Crown Court heard.

They were convicted of burglary and both sentenced to three years in prison last Thursday (December 8) after a female waitress identified them to police.

Judge Karu, sentencing, said Lambeth Police officers had “pulled out all the stops” to get a conviction.

Dectective Constable Samzi Azam said: “The sentence passed down to the Thomas brothers reflects the seriousness of the offence.

“This was a team effort and we will continue to prosecute those involved in the London civil disorder.”
