Detectives hunting for the Beddington Park rapist want to find four witnesses who may hold the key to catching the sex attacker.

At about 10.45pm on Sunday, November 20, a woman was attacked in London Road, Wallington, near the 151 bus stop adjacent to Beddington Park.

She was knocked unconscious, dragged into Beddington Park and raped.

Police would like to speak to people who were close to the A237 London Road, near to the Grange Bar and restaurant or Beddington Park itself.

In particular, police are trying to identify and trace a white man, about 5ft 10in who entered Beddington Park on foot from the Wallington Green area.

He wore a hood or a hat and looked at the woman as he walked around her towards the bridge in Beddington Park.

They are also looking for a man, possibly of Oriental origin and about 40 to 50 years old.

He is described as about 5ft 7in tall, medium build with combed over receding hair.

He had a dark black plastic looking jacket on and was seen at a bus stop by the shops at Wallington Green and got on the 410 bus towards Wallington.

Police would also like to make contact with a member of the public who was wearing a light coloured top and trousers and walked along London Road from the Grange Bar direction towards the Kwik Fit opposite Beddington Park at about 10pm.

At about 10.40pm a member of the public was walking along London Road, in the opposite direction and was wearing a light coloured top.

It is not known if this is the same person or someone different.

DI Neil Matthews from the specialist sex crimes unit, Sapphire Command said: "This was an unprovoked attack on an innocent member of the public who has sustained serious injury.

"I appeal for any witnessess to come forward and assist police in catching the persons responsible. Please call Police or contact Crimestoppers."
