Children have been flocking to a house in West Molesey to see their magical Christmas lights.

The front garden of the house in Adecroft Way, owned by Jim and Carol Cooper, is crammed with illuminated Christmas figures and even has its own fake snow machine.

Girls from the local Rainbow group visited the house on Monday, December 13, and Mr Cooper dressed up as Santa for the occasion.

He said: “I’ve got grandchildren now so it’s nice to do it, but my daughter started it really because she’s a two-year-old going on 30.

“It started with a Winnie the Pooh, who she liked, and went from there. My wife buys something new every year, and we get a lot of stuff from America.

“Sometimes she tells me and other times I get home from work, the door knocks and a courier is stood there with another parcel.”

The couple have built the collection up over the past seven or eight years and it takes three days to get them out of the loft and set up.

Most people in the area love it and knock on the door as they pass, although one year vandals used Stanley knives took to the display with Stanley knives on Boxing Day.

Mr Cooper said; “The kids absolutely love it. We’ve had parents tell us the lights drive them mad because their kids insist on being driven to see them every day until Christmas is over.”

He said some people offer donations, thinking it is for charity, but said he just liked doing it for the children and thought not enough people got in to the Christmas spirit.
