Brooklands College has received a national award for its diversity scheme.
The college, which has a campus in Weybridge, won the Investors in Diversity (IID) award after a team of staff and students spent six months working on a project to ensure that inclusion is actively promoted at all times.
It is the first further education institution in Surrey to achieve IID status.
Maureen Kilminster, Brooklands College principal, said it was “a fantastic achievement for the college that recognises our positive work in this area".
The award is run by the National Centre for Diversity, which provides a step-by-step guide to help businesses and organisations meet the required standards.
Institutions must demonstrate “excellence in equality, diversity and inclusion practice".
Mr Solat Chaudhry, the centre’s chief executive, said the college had “engaged wholeheartedly with the programme and demonstrated a real and tangible commitment to equality.”
