Public services students at Brooklands College marked the 90th anniversary of the poppy appeal this week. Canon Peter Bruinvels, the Surrey county field manager for Royal British Legion gave a presentation about Remembrance Day and the significance of the poppy.
A group of higher students then represented the college at the Remembrance Day parade in Addlestone on Sunday, November 13, where they lay a wreath to remember those wounded or lost in conflict. A remembrance parade was also held at the college on Wednesday, November 9.
Assistant head of service industries Vickie Ervin said: “Many of our public services students intend to enter the armed forces so it is important to them to play an active part in this important appeal.
“We are proud of their commitment to fundraising and volunteering and the example they set to others.”
