Two pub regulars were stabbed with steak knives during a brutal argument over last orders.

The drinkers suffered wounds to the back after stepping in when knives were waved in the landlady’s face.

The bloody row was caught on the pub’s CCTV as shocked bar staff and drinkers watched.

Police arrested three men after the brawl at the North Star pub, in Hook, on March 19.

Shortly before his trial was due to begin at Kingston Crown on Monday, November 7, Dean Chilver, 24, admitted wounding Kerry O’Shea and Anthony Blagrove.

But he denied a charge of wounding with intent.

Prosecutor Rory Keane told the court the fight started after a disagreement over being served.

Two other men who had been drinking with Chilver that night also admitted being involved.

Speaking after the case, Detective Constable Nick Curtis said: “One of the suspects grabbed knives and waved them in front of the landlady.

“They had been drinking elsewhere previously and their behaviour was rowdy.

“When people tried to ask them to leave they appeared to object.”

The landlady was badly affected by the fight, which left pools of blood inside and outside the pub, according to DCon Curtis and she is no longer the manager.

The steak knives were found by police after the incident .

Chilver, who lives in Stormont Way, Chessington, was initially charged with possessing an offensive weapon, four steak knives, but the charge was later dropped.

Mark Steemson, 26, and his brother Daniel Steemson, 25, both from Hereford Way, Chessington, admitted affray.

No details were given about Chilver’s criminal record but Mark Steemson had a history of violence, the court heard, with 18 convictions for 17 offences.

He was given a conditional discharge for actual bodily harm in 2003 and a community order for common assault in 2008.

He was also handed a deferred 12-week prison sentence in February last year.

Daniel Steemson had only one criminal conviction, from more than 10 years ago.

All three will be sentenced on December 5.

Recorder Alexia Durran said: “All three defendants can expect custodial sentences.”
