Two schoolgirls from Croydon are celebrating medal wins at the British Judo Championships.
Coloma Convent Girls' School students Mairead Jackson and Sophie Roots, competed in the competition in Sheffield between November 18 and 20.
Year 8 pupil Sophie won her weight category and took Gold, while Mairead of Year 11 won Silver.
In recognition of their achievements both girls have been selected to join the England Judo Team.
They will undertake a programme which aims to compliment their home based training and will prepare them for progression up the British Judo Association's world class pathway, with the ultimate goal of winning medals at Senior World Championships and Olympic Games.
