A woman from Cheam who lost an incredible 10st in a year has won a national award.

Jennifer Brightwell, 38, joined Weight Watchers in June 2010 when she weighed 22st 4lb and was a size 28.

She made a life-changing decision to lose weight in order to be a healthier role model for her three children. She now weighs 12st 13lb and is a size 14 and has changed so much people do not even recognise her in the office.

Mrs Brightwell suffered from Hodgkin’s Lymphoma when she was 21 and needed chemotherapy and steroids which made her depressed and put on weight.

When she was 37 she developed deep vein thrombosis and was told she was at high risk of developing diabetes.

It was this warning that induced her to change her lifestyle by joining Weight Watchers.

“I was given a diet plan where I had to track everything I ate.

“It was hard to get used to the system at first but the weight came off quite quickly.

“I have so much more energy now. I can keep up with my children which is an enormous thing for me and I can run for the bus when I see it coming.

“Medically it has done amazing things for me. My DVT is nearly gone and my chances of other problems including diabetes have been reduced.”

Because of her vast weight loss Mrs Brightwell is also one of 10 winners of the Weight Watchers, Best Ever You awards.

This Saturday she will receive a makeover by celebrity style consultant Louise Roe from MTV’s Plain Jane before showcasing her new look on a catwalk in front of a large audience.
