Staff at an estate agents managed to save all their files from a fire which broke out in their office today.

Twenty five firefighters were called to Barnard Marcus Estate Agents in Upper Tooting Road at midday on Wednesday to put out the blaze.

The fire broke out in the basement of the estate agents where staff keep their housing files.

Four people were evacuated from the office before firefighters turned up, and six people in neighbouring buildings were also evacuated.

The blaze was put out at 2.20pm and believed to have been caused by an electrical fault.

Micheal Fyffe who was working in the office at the time said: "I went downstairs to get some files and noticed there was a strange noise coming from the fuse box.

"When I went back downstairs there was a raging fire. But the show has got to go on and we went back to work afterwards - we even sold a house today."
