A former borough athlete turned local councillor has been selected to help co-ordinate the London Olympic legacy.
Councillor Florence Nosegbe, Lambeth Cabinet Member for Culture, Sport, has joined the board of the London Youth Games Foundation, which will work to deliver a legacy for the 2012 Olympics.
Ms Nosegbe, who once competed as an athlete for Lambeth as a youngster, will join 14 board members to devise a strategy for the Youth Games next November.
Commenting on her election, she said: "This is a real honour for me because I’m a huge fan of the London Youth Games, and as a former participant I know the vital role it plays in developing youth sport in the capital and nurturing young sporting talent.
"Every year hundreds of young people from Lambeth have a fantastic experience competing against their counterparts from across London."
The Youth Games, founded in 1977, attracted 71,000 participants this year from 32 London boroughs.
