Parks and open spaces across Surrey are set to receive the royal seal of approval to mark the Queen’s diamond Jubilee in 2012.

Epsom and Ewell Council is taking part in the Queen Elizabeth II Fields Challenge, a national initiative led by the Duke of Edinburgh, to protect outdoor spaces for future generations.

The scheme, run by Fields in Trust, aims to permanently protect 2012 outdoor recreational spaces across the country by 2012 creating a legacy of the 2012 Olympic Games and Diamond Jubilee.

A number of outdoor areas have already been nominated by participating council’s and it is now up to you to support your park by voting for it online.

If accepted, the sites nominated will be protected and dedicated and as playing fields for outdoor sport, play and recreation and would be open to a greater range of external grant funding.

The deadline to show your support is November 18.
