Police are appealing for witnesses a week after a man was gunned down in Clapham High Street.

The 33-year-old was shot a number of times whilst sitting in a car in Cato Road, off Clapham High Street last Wednesday.

Emergency services were called around 9.40pm and found a man suffering with gunshot wounds.

He was taken to a south London hospital with life threatening injuries and is reported to be in a stable condition.

Clapham High Street, from Edgeley Road to Clapham North tube station was cordoned off until the next day.

Officers are hoping someone out that evening saw what happened as the area is a popular destination for drinkers.

Detective Chief Inspector Lee Watling said: "We would like to hear from anyone who may have been in the area of Clapham High Street between 8pm and 10pm a week ago.

"They may have seen something suspicious or witnessed the shooting and are yet to come forward to speak to us.

"The high street is a busy place and there will have been many people out for drinks or dinner last Wednesday night. If you saw anything that might help us I urge you to call the incident room."

Detectives from Trident are investigating. No arrests have been made.
