Coulsdon army cadets have beaten off contestants from across the UK to win the country's only tri-service military skills competition.

Seventy-eight cadets from the four Greater London cadet services competed to win the Elworthy Trophy at the Woolwich Barracks-hosted event.

The winning cadets aged 14-17 from the Army Cadet Force’s South West London Sector took part in a series of team activities including an obstacle course and orienteering, winning both the obstacle course and rowing events.

Winning team member, Cadet Staff Sergeant Charlie Gosnell, said: "It's a great honour for us to win the Elworthy Trophy.

"It proves that we are the best detachment in South West London ACF and we have put all our abilities, strengths and weaknesses into practice by working as a team."
