The road to Wembley (if its ready in time) begins earlier for some than others, but the financial rewards for winning sides in the FA Cup are always welcome and, in truth, the Robins had few problems in reaching the next round in two weeks time.

Andover's plans were thwarted by the absence of one of their main strikers through suspension and an injury sustained by their central defender in the pre-match warm up.

The Robins set the pace from the kick off and the first serious goal attempt came after five minutes when Marshall scampered down the left wing only to see his cross to the far post headed into the hands of keeper Arthur by midfielder Matt Howard.

In the minutes that followed Andover were awarded a series of free kicks by a fussy referee, but failed to create anything from them and the Robins quickly regained the initiative with Dundas shooting at the keeper at the end of a strong run.

Minutes later the Robins should have taken advantage of total confusion in the Andover penalty area, but Drewett, Dundas and Coleman all failed to put the ball in for the visitors from close range and Carshalton came close to regretting their profligacy in front of goal when a ball from the right presented Danny Taylor with a scoring chance, but the unmarked midfielder side footed his chance over the bar. The remainder of the half was one-way traffic, but try as they might the Robins failed to score.

Coleman should have done better when presented with a chance by keeper Arthur's poor clearance, but his shot was underhit allowing Arthur to get back to save and just before the break Drewett's lob from a pass by Howard went just outside the post.

Carshalton were too casual at the start of the second period and were grateful to Paul Seuke for a double save to deny the home team on the break, but it wasn't long before the Robins were back in control.

With half an hour remaining Carshalton finally scored a long overdue goal when Marshall got away from his marker having switched to the right wing.

His cross found its way to Omari Coleman on the left side of the area and the Robins' striker gave Arthur no chance with a fierce left foot drive into the far corner to the relief and acclaim of the Carshalton supporters grouped behind the goal.

Five minutes later the result was put beyond doubt when Coleman laid the ball into the path of Matt Howard.

The Robins midfielder, enjoying an effective afternoon, side stepped his marker before doubling the lead with an emphatic shot into the top corner.

With the game seemingly won, Dave Garland made several substitutions. Marc Simms made his first appearance of the season in place of Gary Drewett and Danny Platel came on in place of Craig Dundas who had been ill in midweek.

With five minutes remaining Levi Coleman came on up front to replace his older brother.

The game almost ended on a high for Andover when a speculative long range effort almost caught out Seuke, striking the bar before bouncing over, but the final result was the least the Robins deserved for an efficient performance to send them comfortably through.
