It would appear that this local authority can spend anything it wants on any scheme it dreams up, without first asking the public what their opinion is.
The reason is simple. A Liberal Democrat-run council going hand in hand with a very autocratic chief executive. - why would this administration spend money on sensible projects, when it can waste money on so-called road improvements through New Malden (which are already broken down and due for replacement) and the less than satisfactory, so-called improvements at Memorial Square?
The utilisation of taxpayers' money in this borough should be decided by the residents. The council needs to be reminded that it and the local councillors are public servants and not a law unto themselves.
