A few weeks ago Merton Council delivered a leaflet through my postbox regarding the disposal of garden rubbish, giving a telephone number to inform them for the collection.
I phoned the council on Monday, July 31, to make an arrangement to collect the rubbish. I was told to collect the special bags from the Civic Centre and it would all be collected on Thursday, August 3. I promptly put the rubbish in the special bags and kept them outside and easily visible.
No collection was made on Thursday and when I phoned in the late afternoon I was told it would be collected on Friday. Again no collection was made on Friday.
I phoned again, only to be told it would be collected. I was given a reference number as well.
Nothing happened when I was told my name was on the computer and they could not contact the rubbish collectors.
Throughout the following week no collection was made and finally I had to take them to the recycling centre.
Why the council distributes these meaningless leaflets and justifies the hefty council tax, I will never know.
