Reading your article (Cruise control out of hand, Croydon Guardian, September 6) made me angry.
Boy racers are always being stereotyped - they're dangerous, they're noisy, the list goes on and on.
I am a cruiser, I work 40 hours a week, I pay sky-high car insurance premiums, unjustifiable road tax and keep my car maintained for MOT purposes.
All the while I have got to protect my car from thieves. I cannot go into Croydon for fear of being assaulted, stabbed or mugged.
A cruise is not about racing, it's about people being sociable. There are times when people do act stupid but this is the minority of cruisers. Most of us cannot afford to act stupid with our cars.
Accidents have happened at cruises but if you take into account how many people have been mugged or stabbed while out clubbing or even walking through town, then are we really that dangerous?
Our cars are our pride and joy and it's more enjoyable than drugs.
