Janis Humberstone can rest assured that we are aware that some passenger coaches are using Dover House Road unlawfully, and we are urgently exploring ways of tackling this problem.
As she rightly says, we are liaising closely with the residents' association over this issue, and have sought an urgent meeting with our partners in the police to find an effective solution to the problem.
Ms Humberstone should however note that it is not illegal for coaches to travel along Dover House Road if they have a legitimate reason for doing so. Our task is to work with the police to secure sufficient evidence to satisfy a court of law that the driver's actions are not legitimate and consequently unlawful.
We have worked very successfully with the residents' association on a whole range of issues in the past and will continue to do so in the future. It will of course be kept closely informed of all developments regarding this matter.
