Julian Speroni: Excellent low stop to deny Jay Rodriguez in the first half and had to be alert to tip over a Ross Wallace free kick as well. Little else to do apart from that but still needs to talk a little more to his defence. 8

Peter Ramage: He hasn't got the energy and pace of Nathaniel Clyne to scare the opposition when he goes forward, but he is an experienced campaigner and made some vital tackles and interceptions on Saturday. 7

Paddy McCarthy: Given that he is the only permanent squad member among the back four, he is doing a remarkable job of organising every one else. Looked assured alongside Tunchev but will be annoyed he wasted a free header in first half injury time. 7

Aleksander Tunchev: No nerves at all from the debutante from Leicester City, you could have been forgiven for thinking he had played alongside McCarthy all his career. There were a few moments when the pair defended like school children but on the whole he showed a lot of class. Should have scored as well. 8

Ryan McGivern: His cross for Parr's goal was an absolute beauty and if he can keep doing that he might earn himself a longer stay in south London beyond the end of the month. Defensively, he was generally sound but needs to bulk up a little. 7

David Wright: Palace supporters have become so accustomed to Wright playing the midfield anchor role it is easy to forget he is a full back by trade and had never played in midfield before last season. He was everywhere on Saturday though and made countless tackles to break up play. He did sometimes sit off too much though and allowed Burnley space. 8

Owen Garvan: Quite possibly his best performance in a Palace shirt. He was given time on the ball and allowed to pass it, often finding his man. His delivery from set pieces was inch-perfect every time and he should have had two assists had McCarthy and Tunchev converted. He has come in for a lot of stick from fans last year but he wouldn't be the first player to turn their perceptions around. 9

Darren Ambrose: Got an early knock to the same leg he fractured last year and wasn't fit after that. He played on until just after half time though and came close a couple of times. He looks a little lost at the minute and not as happy as he was in the Warnock era. Desperately needs a goal. 6

Jonathan Parr: He caught the eye with a performance reminiscent of the Duracell Bunny as he ran and ran and ran, which is quite remarkable as he has been playing week in week out since January. He took his goal with an excellent header following an equally excellent run and Burnley's frustration with him was summed up by Bartley's decision to smack him in the face. 9

Sean Scannell: A man in form and his direct running straight at the Burnley defence scared Ben Mee so much he could do nothing but trip him up and give away the penalty. He has come of age this year and if he keeps performing like this it will be very hard to dislodge him from the side. 9

Jermaine Easter: Buzzed around a lot and gave the Burnley defence a headache, but sometimes you get the impression his concentration wavers. He had a great chance to set up a second goal for Palace and stake a claim to be in front of Glenn Murray in the pecking order but wasted it by being selfish and trying to score himself rather than set up the unmarked Parr. 6

Subs:

Kagisho Dikgacoi (Ambrose, 49): Dropped from the starting line-up he came off the bench to play right wing and although unaccustomed to it, he did a good job. 6

Wilfried Zaha (Easter, 71): There's only room for one wizard's tricks in the Palace team and at the moment that wizard is Scannell. Zaha did make an impact when he came on but is going to have to bide his time before he gets a regular starting spot. 6

Calvin Andrew (Scannell, 83): Given a spot on the bench ahead of Nathaniel Pinney, most likely to give an aerial presence if needed. Did little when he came on but the game was safe. 5

Not used: Price, Jedinak.
