A silver car may hold the key to who murdered heroic father Carlton Ned.

The dad was shot dead as he tried to protect his wife at their home in Langdale Road, Thornton Heath on July 1.

Police have released footage of a silver car they would like to trace in connection with the incident.

Officers are appealing for the occupants of a silver car, believed to be a Mercedes Benz E - Class design number W211 seen shortly after the murder, to come forward so they can be eliminated from the enquiry.

The Mercedes is captured on CCTV traveling north up London Road towards Stockwell.

Detective Chief Inspector John Crossley, of Trident said: "We need anyone who saw a silver vehicle traveling in Langdale Road, or who has information on the silver Mercedes seen in London Road, to come forward.

"It is essential we eliminate the Mercedes and establish whether it is or isn't the same silver vehicle the suspects left the scene of the murder in.

“I would appeal directly to anyone who recognizes the vehicle as their own to get in touch."
