The teenage boy involved in a serious motorbike crash in Hackbridge on Wednesday has died.

Dylan Roff, from Mitcham, suffered “life-threatening” injuries when the stolen 125cc bike he was riding smashed into a BT junction box on Wednesday morning.

The 16-year-old was found soon after the crash by dog unit officers on routine patrol at the junction of London Road and Park Road at around 5am.

He was rushed to St George’s Hospital, in Tooting, with serious head injuries but was unconscious on arrival.

Sutton police officers picked up the boy’s mother from their Mitcham home and took her to the hospital.

Mr Roff was immediately put on a life-support machine and was in a “critical condition” throughout until yesterday morning.

But at around lunchtime on Thursday doctors and the boy’s family decided to switch off his life-support.

Another teenage boy, a 17-year-old who was believed to have been on the same motorbike, was taken to St George’s along with Mr Roff.

He is understood to be in a critical condition although his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

It is understood that neither of the teenagers were wearing motorcycle helmets when they crashed.

A Sutton Police spokesman said: “Police believe the motorcycle to be stolen but enquiries are continuing.

“If you have any information that could help police please contact us by calling the new non-emergency 101.”

A London Ambulance spokesman said: “We were called at 5am to reports of a road traffic collision.

"We sent two ambulances, two fast responders and an air ambulance to the scene.”

“Two males, with serious head injuries, were taken to St George's Hospital as a priority.”
