An elderly man has died this morning after being hit by a train.
A spokeswoman for British Transport Police (BTP) said the incident, which took place at Clapham Junction station at about 11am, was "currently being treated as non-suspicious".
She said: "BTP officers were called to platform 11 of Clapham Junction rail station after a report that a man had been struck by a train.
"BTP and officers from Metropolitan police attended the incident. Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service also attended, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
“A file will be prepared for the coroner.”
A spokeswoman for the ambulance service said they sent two ambulances, a single responder in a car, a duty officer and the air ambulance - but the man, believed to be in his 70s, was pronounced dead by the air ambulance doctor.
The train involved was the 10.54am London Waterloo to Dorking service.
A spokesman for Network Rail said two lines were shut after the incident - but were running again as normal by 12.30pm.
