Bird lovers are invited to see rare Tree Sparrows on a tour of Beddington Farmlands as part of the RSPB led London Tree Sparrow Partnership.

The event, on July 17, will start at Hackbridge Station at 1.15pm and will give the public an opportunity to see the rare birds up close on the feeding stations.

There will also be the chance to see the recently fledged birds and a special opportunity to see the birds being fitted with monitoring rings.

The tree sparrows are being fitted with red rings so they can be tracked when they move away in the winter.

This is part of an ongoing monitoring scheme, forming part of a conservation plan for the species.
