A community will celebrate victory in a long-running road safety battle with a street party this weekend.
Residents living in and near Haydon’s Road in Wimbledon fought for a year to win a pedestrian crossing on the busy route.
This weekend people from nearby Kohat, Havelock and Kingsley roads will hold a street party to mark the victory.
Attractions will include live music, a tug-of-war, games and races and a tea dance – as well as displays on the area’s history.
The party will take place from noon to 4pm on Saturday, July 16.
The crossing, which was eventually approved by Transport for London last month, is set to be installed near the junction with Kohat Road later this year.
