Over 1,700 visitors flocked to The Children’s Trust’s annual family fun day on Saturday raising £17,500 to help the charity’s work with disabled children.
The event was officially opened by the Mayor of Reigate & Banstead, Councillor Brian Stead.
Crowds enjoyed an afternoon of entertainment including fairground rides, a bouncy castle, miniature steam railway rides, a Punch & Judy show, a pet zone with farm animals and Shrapnel’s Battery with firing muskets and canon.
During the afternoon, the lucky winner of the £3,000 cash prize for the SuperDraw Lottery was announced.
A local team of cycling enthusiasts, known as ‘Tadworth Fat Boys’, also presented a cheque for £400, which 11 of the team members had raised through a 310 mile cycle ride from Tadworth to Land’s End.
Katie Roberts, head of community fundraising at The Children’s Trust, said: “We had a wonderful day.
“I would like to thank the Mayor for officially opening the fun day.
“I would also like to say a huge thank you to everyone involved who made it such a success, in particular the sponsor - Fidelity International - who has generously supported us for many years, those who provided the entertainment, the stall holders, businesses who donated prizes for the raffle, our loyal band of volunteers and all the families who turned out to show their support.”
