With reference to Councillor John Drage's letter in your August 17 issue (Following own advice about checking facts) I found it interesting to note that the average council tax increase for the past eight years for Liberal Democrat-run local authorities was 6.2 per cent.
I could not help thinking that if the London Borough of Sutton Lib Dem council had adhered to this figure instead of an exorbitant 7.5 per cent plus during the same period, few residents would be complaining now about their over inflated council tax bills. By the way, I think the value for money argument is irrelevant.
