The young man murdered yesterday on a housing estate has been named as 20-year-old Mahad Mohammed.
The Metropolitan Police (Met) also revealed today that a man in his late teens was arrested last night on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody at a south London police station.
Mr Mohammed, of Sporle Court, in Battersea's Winstanley Estate, was found with stab wounds outside Pennethorne House, in Wye Street at 1.30am yesterday morning. He was pronounced dead at 2.05am.
Mr Mohammed's next of kin have been informed - and a post-mortem examination is taking place today at St George's Hospital Mortuary, in Tooting.
Detective Chief Inspector Dave Manning, from the Met's Homicide and Serious Crime Command unit, said: "We believe that Mahad may have had an altercation with a group of youths earlier in the evening and would like to hear from anyone who witnessed this or who may have seen this group in the local area."
"I urge the local community to contact us with information and assist us in finding the person/s responsible for Mahad's murder."
Anyone with information should call the incident room on 020 8721 4054 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
