Olympic champion Jonathan Edwards will leap into Merton next week to fly the flag for the London games.
The gold-medal winning triple jumper, who still hold's the disciplines world record, will raise a special host borough flag featuring the 2012 Olympic logo in Morden on Wednesday.
The ceremony will take place outside the Civic Centre in Morden at 2pm with pupils from Poplar, Abbotsbury and Morden primary schools.
The All England Club in Wimbledon will host the tournament's tennis competition Edwards, who won gold at the Sydney games in 2000, said: āIām really looking forward to raising the flag in Merton. The 2012 Games coming to London is a great opportunity, which I hope will encourage youngsters up and down the country to get involved in sport."
