A South African choir will take to the stage for one night only, in a charity concert as part of their European tour.

The concert on Sunday, July 2, hosted by the Elmbridge Community Music Society, will see the South African Youth Choir, Pro Canto, perform at the Christ the Prince of Peace Church in Portmore Way, Weybridge, at 8.30pm.

The UK will have the chance to enjoy more of their performances in venues such as Bath Abbey and Salisbury Cathedral before they head to Australia to compete in the Second Grand Prix of Choir Music.

Cliff Van Tonder, founder and CEO of Elmbridge Music, said: “It is an honour and privilege to be playing host to such an awesome choir. We can’t wait for the concert and anticipate that tickets will sell out very fast.”

The young performers from Pro Cantu have impressed people all over the world, winning singing including the Choir of the World at the Llangollen International Music Festival in Wales and being named the World Choir Games Champions at the fifth World Choir Games in Austria.

Their rich repertoire will include choral works from the Renaissance and traditional folk songs to 20th century choir music.

Tickets cost £10 and are available at ticketbasket.co.uk or by calling 0844 5885889.
