SU56110-02.jpg Tesco has submitted plans to convert a pub badly damaged in a suspected arson attack to a supermarket.

Last week the supermarket giant submitted its plans to Sutton Council to convert the Angel pub in Angel Hill to a Tesco Express.

The pub was bought by Tesco just days before fire damaged the pub on Saturday, February 26.

The pub had previously been ordered to close after reports of violence, criminal damage and noise complaints.

It also sold booze to underage police cadets in a sting operation.

The Tesco application includes plans for a cash machine on the site.

The application is expected to be considered by Sutton Council’s planning application’s committee.
