A woman was assaulted after a robbery at a Sainsbury’s petrol station in Epsom on Sunday.

The assault happened shortly after 4pm when a man approached the female cashier asking for blue Rizla cigarette papers.

As the cashier opened the till the man lunged over the cash desk hitting the cashier with his hand and causing her to stumble back.

He then reached into the till grabbing a quantity of cash.

As the cashier tried to stop him he pushed her and grabbed her wrist causing pain and reddening.

As the man tried to leave the door would not open so he kicked the door causing it to shatter.

He then ran out of the petrol station, turning right out of the store.

The robber is described as a white man aged 30-33 years old, about 6ft tall, of medium to large build and around 15 to 16 stone.

He had a bald head, was clean shaven and was wearing grey tracksuit bottoms, a pink and green striped T-shirt and a dark blue coat.

Several members of the public were at the petrol station at the time of the incident, but were not injured.
