More than 100 volunteers gathered at Battersea Dogs and Cats Home to help improve facilities for the 300 plus dogs waiting to be given a new place to live.
The kind-hearted helpers spent Saturday painting kennels, making imitation living rooms called Home Zones where dogs can chill-out, assembling agility equipment in exercise paddocks and creating sensory gardens.
Brian da Cal, volunteer manager at the home said: "The work they’ll be doing will really help the dogs in our care. Many of them find kennel life stressful so having these wonderful facilities will reduce stress levels and make sure the dogs have lots of fun things to do while they wait for new homes."
The volunteers gave up their time as part of the Orange RockCorps initiative - which rewarded each one with tickets to gigs later this year, including Primal Scream, Jessie J and Eliza Doolittle.
