Four names are in the frame when the Croydon Guardian Crystal Palace player-of-the-year awards are held tomorrow night.

We asked you to nominate your star men ahead of the gala night at Selhurst Park - and four names came out repeatedly, Nathaniel Clyne, Neil Danns, James Vaughan and Julian Speroni.

Those attending tomorrow's do will have the final say by voting for the winner on the night.

Here's a lowdown on each of the nominees.

Nathaniel Clyne

Appearances: 49 Assists: 3

He may only have turned 20 last month but you could easily have mistaken Clyne for a veteran this season given his mature performances.

Last season's young player of the year put in some assured displays at right back and improved the defensive side of the game to add to the attacking threat of his surging runs forward.

He was the first name on both George Burley and Dougie Freedman's team sheets and thus became the first outfield player to play every minute of every game since Gareth Southgate in 1995 (goalkeeper Kevin Miller did it in 1998).

He is the favourite for the award but so was Darren Ambrose last year until Julian Speroni pipped him on the night.

Julian Speroni

Appearances: 48 Clean Sheets: 14

It has been another impressive year for the Argentine shotstopper who has claimed this award for the last three seasons.

Ever reliable between the sticks he has produced some outstanding saves this season and has once again had a large hand, or two, in keeping the Eagles out of the drop zone.

His 14 clean sheets this year include that mammoth run of eight games, or 788 minutes, in a row without conceding at Selhurst Park, which left him only 30 minutes short of breaking the record.

His decision to sign a new contract and pledge his loyalty to the club for another three years saw his stock rise even more with the Eagles' supporters.

Neil Danns

Appearances: 38 Goals: 8 Assists: 4

Midfield dynamo Danns has flourished this season, ending the campaign as joint-top of the assist charts and second only to James Vaughan in the scoring ones after eight goals (he would have been joint top but for Jermaine Easter being awarded the winner against Leeds by the dubious goals panel).

Having had an injury-plagued first 18 months at the club, the 28-year-old has been a pivotal member of the team for the last two seasons and is the player that makes things happen for the Eagles.

Despite often finding himself out of position and playing on the right wing, Danns' tricks and effort made him a favourite with fans and they will be desperate to see him commit to the club and sign a new deal with his current contract expiring next month.

James Vaughan

Appearances: 30 Goals: 9 Assists: 2

The striker joined on loan from Everton in September and made himself an instant hero among the Eagles faithful with a hat-trick on his home debut against Portsmouth.

His work-rate, willingness to chase lost causes and physical presence made him a nightmare for opposition defenders and his impact on the team is shown by the fact the Eagles won just one of the seven games they played when he went back to Everton in between loan spells at the turn of the year.

He was one of the first people Dougie Freedman wanted to bring in when he took over and although he might not play for Palace again, he wrote himself into the history books by ending the season as leading scorer with nine goals.
