Police seized a suspected illegal dog in a dawn raid this morning.
Police officers raided the house in Stanley Park Road, Wallington at 7.30am and seized a one-year-old Pitbull type dog.
It is believed the dog was bought by the 35-year-old woman who lives at the property for her secondary school age son.
The dog was taken by specialist officers to Sutton Police Station, where it is being checked if it is an illegal breed.
PC Helen Ginn, of Carshalton South and Clockhouse safer neighbourhoods team (SNT), who ran the operation, said: “We were acting on police intelligence and information received from the local community.”
Sergeant Pat Dolan, who heads up the SNT, said: "There is genuine concern amongst many residents about pitbull type dogs.
“We want residents to tell us their concerns and any information that they have to help us with our enquiries.”
No arrests were made. Enquiries are continuing.
